Qadarullah
We usually guess what will happen to a person from what that person do mostly. Not all person in this world understands statistics, it is just the way we think naturally. If there is a huge probability if one thing will happen after one thing is done, we recognize it as a cause and effect relationship. After understand the cause and effect, we assume that all person who do the cause, will feel the effect. I don't want to talk about the statistics, probability, or something like that. I just want to remind that not all the cause can create the effect.
There is an experience of mine while I was doing work practice in June. There was a moment when my health condition dropped. In this pandemic era, health is crucial. We can't enter public places even if we just suffer a light cold. At that time, I was suffering a pretty heavy cough with phlegm. That makes people around me worry that I might infected with covid virus. Even though I have that symptoms, I still went to work but the consequence is I have to hold the cough so that I wouldn't be kicked out from the office.
In the end of the week, my condition was getting worse. My sister told me that I have to go to my uncle's house that is nearby my office to be taken care of. I obeyed my sister, I told my uncle that I will sleep in his house in weekend because my health condition is getting worse. My uncle picked me up from office. In the road when we were heading to his place, he asked me how my work, how my day, and of course how can I get sick. I just tell him that my condition usually dropped when I'm in period. I cough a little in my uncle's car. But when we arrived in my uncle's house, my cough was getting worse and I felt really really tired.
My uncle attached oximeter to my finger to check my blood's saturation level. After a few seconds, the result in the oximeter screen showed that my saturation level was 85 whereas the normal saturation level is above 90 (ideally 95). In that condition, I suffered from hypoxia. It made me had a headache and fever. The family of my uncle really really worry that I was infected with the virus in the office. The spouse of my uncle -- I call her "Bunda"-- told me to do the swab antigen test. But she told me to rest a little until I feel better. Because I was having heavy cough, my uncle told me to sleep with face down (it's the first time I slept with this kind of pose, usually I avoid this because Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam curse this kind of sleeping pose, but this was an emergency condition for me).
After few minutes of sleep with face down, I woke up with sweat that wetted my clothes, but I felt better because I don't have fever anymore. My uncle attached again the oximeter to my finger. It showed that my saturation level has increased from last time, it showed 92. I was optimistic that time that I just have a common cough, not covid. My uncle and bunda still wanted me to do the swab test to ensure my condition. Then, my uncle bring me to a clinic nearby to get tested. Alhamdulillah, the test result was negative. I just have a common cold.
After a week I slept in my uncle's house, finally I recovered from the cough. I decided to back to my flat (or kosan more precisely), although life in my uncle's house was more comfortable. My uncle has retired from his job. His oldest daughter works from home. Actually in that home, there is no person who has a high mobility (which is good for avoiding the virus in this era). But one day, my uncle and Bunda had to buy something in market, so they went out from their house once. On the previous day, Bunda suffered fever, she shivered after maghrib. She was getting tested and the result was positive. I was suprised because she just going out from her house once. I was suspected to be infected by the virus because I went to office every day. At that moment, I just couldn't understand the condition, I just could say "Qadarullah wa maasyaa'a fa'ala".
We really could understand the cause and the effect, but we don't know if the cause will really create the effect, because there is a creator above all, that is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. He is the one who has the power over all. He is the one who decides what will happen to all of His creature. There is no event that is occured without his permission. Because of that, we have to do tawakal really true to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Tawakal doesn't mean that we just give up, not doing anything, but tawakal means that we have to do the maximum effort that we can and after that, let Allah decides.
